It has taken two weeks but I FINALLY finished The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and this quote about sums up my feelings for it 🙃 Don’t get me wrong, it’s well written and generally interesting but it could have been about 100 pages shorter and the story would still be intact (maybe even better).
Anne Bronte either had a great gift for human observation and depicting emotions and situations not her own, OR she actually lived through some of the stuff she wrote about because this story is incredibly descriptive and a true representation of the good and bad in people. I recommend this book for people who don’t mind having the same person/situation described in twenty different ways, and/or who like strong, kicka** heroines who don’t let dumb men push them around 😏
Finally finished Jane Eyre and now on to The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Charlotte’s sister, Anne Bronte! I loveeeddd Jane Eyre and I hope I like the other Bronte books just as well! I had only ever seen the Jane Eyre movie and I can now say that the book is one million times better than the movie. So many details are left out of the movie and you definitely don’t get all the feels between Jane and Mr. Rochester ❤
This beautiful Penguin Clothbound Classic needs no accessories 😊
Finally on to my last Jane Austen novel, the universally acknowledged Pride and Prejudice 💟 (see what I did there?) I’ve read this book so many times and seen the movies and TV series more times than is probably healthy, but it never gets old!
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve read the book so many times already, but Pride and Prejudice seems to be the most relatable of Austen’s works. It also has the most overt and direct romance which is a nice change from her five other books in which the romantic language occurs in the last two pages of the stories 😑 Regardless, I love all her works and I’m so happy I have a complete set!
When all seems lost because spring has not sprung, I will look to my new Penguin Classics Jane Austen Box Set for comfort!
About 2 weeks ago, I had set myself a goal with a reward: Read all of Jane Austen’s works on my Kindle and I would purchase a box set for myself. Welllll, I couldn’t wait (because when can I ever?) and I bought this beautiful set about 4 books too early. Oh well! I also initially had my eye on a different set but this one kept drawing my attention, for obvious reasons if I do say so myself! This set is the first in my baby classic book collection and I can’t wait for more 🙂
